ImageMap Inc. introduced the world's first automated track geometry
measurement system "UGMS" which can be installed in locomotives,
commercial passenger trains and freight cars. These units inspect the track
providing track geometry parameters each time the train covers the same
route. Designed to be employed on core routes, the UGMS system provides
up-to-date data on a very frequent basis allowing the track infrastructure
owner and maintainer to identify defects before they become a problem.
Track maintenance work can be scheduled to ensure the most productive
maintenance plan. Due to the frequent inspection runs, UGMS also provides
an audit of track work completed (or not) and the durability of the work.
UGMS systems are successfully working on a daily basis in Europe. UGMS
operates without manpower.
